Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Progress Camera Team ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use Progress Camera (the "App"). The App helps you take progress photos, record body measurements, review trends, compare check-ins, and export comparison images when you choose.
Local-first design. The current App does not require an account, does not use a developer-operated backend for core features, and does not upload your progress photos, project names, or comparison data to our servers.
1. Information Stored On Your Device
- Progress photos: Photos you capture in the App are saved as JPEG files inside the App's local application support storage.
- Project and measurement data: The App stores project names, template type, capture dates, image filenames, framing information, weight, waist, chest, hips, arm, thigh, body-fat entries, unit preferences, and optional photo links in a local JSON database.
- Settings: The App stores local preferences such as whether Face ID lock is enabled and project-level overlay, opacity, reference-photo, and timer choices.
- Exported images: When you choose Save, the App writes generated comparison images to your Photos library. When you choose Share, iOS presents the system share sheet and you select the destination.
2. Camera, Photos, Face ID, and Face Data
The App requests Camera access so you can capture progress photos. The App requests add-only Photos permission only when you choose to save exported comparison images to your Photos library. The App does not request permission to read your entire Photos library.
Photos that may include a face: If you choose to capture a progress photo that includes your face, that photo is stored locally on your device as described in Section 1. We do not upload your progress photos to our servers.
On-device face detection for alignment: The App may use Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect a face rectangle in a previous photo and a current photo. This is used only to estimate photo-alignment consistency, such as whether the subject's position and scale are similar between two progress photos. This processing happens on your device. The detected face rectangle is used transiently for this comparison and is not stored, uploaded, or shared. The App stores only non-identifying consistency labels, such as Good, Close, or Retake suggested, in the local JSON database.
No biometric face data: The App does not collect, create, store, or share biometric identifiers, faceprints, facial templates, facial landmark data, depth maps, or data used to identify a person.
Face ID lock: If you enable Face ID lock, the App uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework to unlock private progress photos on your device. We do not receive, store, or have access to your Face ID biometric data.
3. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics
The App includes Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These services may collect a device or app-instance identifier, purchase history associated with optional Pro transactions, product-interaction events, crash logs, and related diagnostic information. We use this information to understand the effectiveness of App and purchase flows, maintain purchase functionality, diagnose failures, reduce crashes, and improve reliability.
Analytics events may include paywall source, selected plan, product identifier, purchase status, transaction identifier, price, and currency. Crash reports may include technical information such as App version, device and operating-system details, stack traces, and operation or product identifiers. We do not place progress photos, project names, body measurements, measurement values, exported images, or user-entered notes in Firebase events or crash reports.
Firebase data may be associated with an app instance or device. We do not use this data for third-party advertising, developer advertising, data-broker sharing, or cross-app tracking. The App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission or access the advertising identifier for these purposes.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
The current implementation does not collect account registration data, contact lists, precise location, payment card numbers, progress photos, project names, body-measurement values, health records, or biometric face data through developer-operated services. The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.
5. Third-Party Sharing and Storage
We do not sell progress photos, body measurements, face data, face-detection results, project data, or local comparison data. Core photos and measurement records remain on your device. Limited analytics and diagnostic data is transmitted to Google Firebase as described above and handled under Google's applicable terms. Exported comparison images are saved to your Photos library only when you choose Save, or shared through the iOS system share sheet only when you choose Share and select a destination.
6. Apple, Purchases, and System Services
When you use iOS Camera, Photos, Face ID or passcode authentication, Share Sheet, App Store review prompts, mail links, StoreKit purchases, or other system services, Apple or the selected destination app may process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Optional Pro subscriptions and lifetime purchases are billed and managed by Apple. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
7. Retention and Deletion
Progress photos, measurements, and local metadata remain on your device until you delete an entry or project, reset local data in the App, uninstall the App, or use iOS storage controls. Deleting a photo removes its association from a measurement record without silently deleting that measurement. Deleting a project removes its associated local measurements. Transient face rectangle detection results are not retained. Because core data is local-first, we generally cannot access, restore, or delete data that exists only on your device.
Firebase retains analytics and diagnostic information according to the retention controls and policies applicable to the Firebase project. You may contact us regarding Firebase data questions, but we may be unable to identify or delete a specific anonymous app instance without sufficient technical information.
8. Security
Progress Camera uses Apple's app sandbox and optional device authentication to help protect local app data. No app or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for controlling access to your device and reviewing exported images before saving or sharing them.
9. Sensitive Photos and Measurements
Progress photos and measurements may reveal face, body shape, weight, body-fat estimates, skin, hair, fitness progress, or other sensitive personal information. These entries are self-recorded tracking information and are not medical records or professional advice. You should only capture and store information when you have the rights and consent needed to do so. Review comparison images and optional measurement overlays carefully before sharing them with other apps or people.
10. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in your region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through developer-operated servers for this App.
11. Regional Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, California, China, and other regions, you may have privacy rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, restriction, or withdrawal of consent. For information stored only on your device, use the App and iOS controls to manage or delete it. You may contact us for privacy questions using the email below.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App changes or legal requirements evolve. The updated version will be posted at this page with a new effective date.
