Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 15, 2026
Operator: Home Inventory Team
App: Home Inventory
Bundle identifier: com.ly.HomeInventory.tool
Overview
Home Inventory stores your inventory locally by default. If you explicitly enable Shared Inventory, the app uses your Apple iCloud account and CloudKit to synchronize non-sensitive inventory data with people you invite. The app does not require a separate Home Inventory account and does not provide a public social feed.
Data We Process
The app may process the following data on your device:
- Inventory records you enter, such as box names, room, item names, quantities, categories, notes, and status flags.
- Item photos you choose to add.
- Generated QR labels for box lookup and app deep links.
- Generated export files (CSV and PDF) when you choose to export.
- Local purchase entitlement state for Pro features via StoreKit.
- Sensitive Box settings you choose for boxes that should require device authentication before their contents are shown in the app.
- CloudKit share identifiers, participant and synchronization status, timestamps, and deletion markers when you enable Shared Inventory.
Analytics, Crash Reports, and Diagnostics
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand whether app features work as expected, measure product interactions, diagnose crashes, and improve reliability. Depending on your device and app activity, these services may collect:
- App interaction events, such as app opens, creation of boxes or items, QR label use, export outcomes, sharing and synchronization outcomes, paywall views, and purchase or restore outcomes.
- Purchase history signals limited to product identifiers, product type, entitlement state, and whether a StoreKit purchase or restore flow succeeded, failed, was cancelled, or remained pending. Firebase does not receive payment card details.
- Device or installation identifiers generated by Firebase, together with general app, device, operating-system, and language information.
- Crash reports and other diagnostic data, such as stack traces, app state, performance or reliability signals, and technical error context.
Analytics event parameters are designed not to include inventory names, item names, notes, photos, exported files, email addresses, Apple account details, or other user-entered inventory content. We do not set a Firebase user ID, use these data for third-party advertising, or use them to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Firebase processes this information on our behalf. For more information, see Firebase Privacy and Security and Google's Privacy Policy.
Photos and Camera
- Photo library read access: used only when you choose photos for inventory items.
- Photo library add access: used only when you choose to save generated label images to Photos.
- Camera access: used for QR label scanning and taking item photos when you initiate these actions.
Purchases and StoreKit
Pro features are offered through Apple StoreKit using product identifier com.ly.HomeInventory.pro. Billing and payment data are handled by Apple, not by Home Inventory Team. We only read transaction entitlement status needed to unlock Pro features in the app.
How Data Is Stored
Inventory data and attached photos are stored locally on your device by default. Export files are generated locally. When you enable Shared Inventory, non-sensitive boxes, items, and their photos are also uploaded to a private CloudKit share associated with your iCloud account. Sensitive boxes remain local and are excluded from Shared Inventory.
Face ID, Touch ID, and Sensitive Boxes
The app may let you mark boxes as sensitive. Before showing the contents of a sensitive box, Home Inventory may ask iOS to authenticate you using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, depending on the authentication methods enabled on your device.
Device authentication is handled by iOS. Home Inventory does not receive, collect, store, upload, or process your Face ID or Touch ID biometric data. The app receives only whether the authentication request succeeded or failed.
Sensitive boxes are excluded from app-owned system search indexes where supported. Sensitive Box access controls apply inside the app and do not control content after you export, back up, print, save, screenshot, or share it outside the app.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Firebase receives the limited analytics and diagnostic data described above. If you enable Shared Inventory, Apple processes the shared data through iCloud and CloudKit, and people you explicitly invite can view and edit non-sensitive shared inventory. You can also choose to share exports, images, or other content using system share flows.
Data Retention and Deletion
Local data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, or uninstall the app. Shared Inventory data remains in the associated iCloud share until records are deleted or the owner stops sharing, subject to Apple's iCloud behavior. Deleting the app removes local app data but does not by itself guarantee deletion of data retained in an active iCloud share. Firebase retains analytics and diagnostic information according to the retention settings and operational requirements of those services.
Children's Privacy
This app is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal data in a way that requires action, contact us.
International Use
If you are in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, you may contact us to request assistance. Many rights can be exercised directly by deleting or exporting local data, removing shared records, or stopping an iCloud share.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material updates will be reflected by changing the effective date.
