Live Photo privacy guide

Protect a Live Photo before you share it

A safe-looking key photo does not tell you what appears a moment earlier, what the microphone captured, or what the file says about where it was taken.

Why the still frame is not enough

A Live Photo combines a still image with a paired motion resource. Covering a detail only in the still can leave it visible when the photo moves. Audio and source metadata can create separate privacy risks.

A complete review

  1. Select the Live Photo through the iOS photo picker.
  2. Review detected faces, text, and barcodes; add or adjust masks where needed.
  3. Scrub through motion to confirm a mask follows the sensitive subject.
  4. Mute audio when voices or background conversation should not travel with the copy.
  5. Create and inspect the rebuilt, verified output before sharing.

What LivePhoto Safe does

The app processes media on the iPhone, rebuilds the still and paired motion resource with a restricted metadata set, applies selected masks across time, and verifies the output structure. Automatic detection is assistance, not a guarantee; your final review remains essential.
