Shortcuts or a saved-text keyboard?

Choose a workflow that fits how you actually write on your iPhone.

The short answer

Choose Apple Text Replacement for a few shortcuts you can remember. Choose Quick Content for a small, local library you organize in the main app and tap from the keyboard. Choose Fast Reply when triggers, sync, sharing or attachments matter. Choose WordBoard when you need a richer keyboard with media, variables, folders or AI features and accept its Full Access requirement.

Four different approaches to reusable text

These products overlap, but their interaction models and privacy trade-offs differ. The table uses each product’s first-party documentation and storefront descriptions; features and prices can change.

Where Quick Content is deliberately narrower

Quick Content does not provide typed-trigger expansion, automatic cloud sync, attachments, team sharing or automatic replies. Its keyboard does not request Full Access. You prepare and organize text in the main app, tap an entry in the keyboard, review it, and send it yourself. Password fields and some apps block third-party keyboards.

A simple way to decide

  1. Use Apple’s built-in option if a few memorable shortcuts solve the problem.
  2. Try Quick Content’s free three-entry workflow if local storage and manual control matter most.
  3. Compare Fast Reply or WordBoard when connected, collaborative or media-heavy features justify their added permissions or ongoing plans.
  4. Test the actual text fields you use before committing to any custom keyboard.
